Potato chip is the cutest dang thing we’ve had in the program for a while. Before we purchased him, he was a packing horse that followed his owner around for years (sometimes ponied, sometimes loose). He has been on hundreds of miles of rugged, steep and insane terrain in WA & AZ. WTC in the arena and on the trails.
Potato enjoys the trails and nothing phases him while he’s out exploring. I qualify him green in the arena but a seasoned trail pro. He just needs more time spent refining leg, seat and rein cues (just the fancy stuff most folks don’t care to tune up anyway). Potato has an easy whoa and if you become unsteady, he will slow down and wait for you. He just wants to please and tries really hard to think about what you’re asking.
Potato would make a wonderful low level dressage/eventing mount for any age/experience level with more consistent work. If you are looking for a gelding that is ready to hit the trails confidently, come see him. If you are looking for a pony for your kids arena hopes and dreams, leave him with us or a trainer of your choice for a few months and he will be ready and able with more time.
