Shadow is an extremely thick-made, beautiful sorrel gelding that shines like a penny in the sunshine. He was foaled 4/3/2021, stands 14.1 hands tall, is registered in the MFTHBA, and is built like a little tank. He was raised by a friend down in Arkansas and joined our herd when he was only a yearling! Shadow is sired by Sensations Southern Spark by I’m A Gentleman Too by Sensation’s Southern Gentleman and out of the mare Countrys Traveling Shadow by Playboy’s Country Boy by Southern Playboy. He has a pedigree packed with proven horses and lines we have enjoyed training for years! Shadow has been such a pleasure to raise and train and has been a part of our family for 4 years. He has a true puppy dog style temperament, is extremely gentle, and loves attention. Being in our family for that long, Shadow has been able to learn and grow in a professional training environment receiving age-appropriate training through every stage of his life. He is easy to catch, does great for the farrier, loads, hauls, and unloads great, stands tied, stands for tacking, bathing, grooming, clipping, mounting, and he will even park out to make mounting easier for the rider. Shadow is the type of horse you can trust putting almost anyone on and hitting the trail. He is the kind of horse that you can turn out for several weeks, pull him out to ride, and hit the trails like he never missed a beat. He will walk calmly and relaxed on a loose rein, will ride bareback or double, will ride collected, has a very stylish and smooth fast walk, a very natural foxtrot, and canter! He neck reins or direct reins, side passes, has a great stop, and backs with ease and will do so with just a war bridle. Shadow is very experienced out on the trail, takes his time navigating rough terrain, crosses water, down timber, ditches/ravines, and does a great job riding anywhere in the pack, including being a lead horse when riding with a group. Shadow is also comfortable with riding out alone. He is use to riding down the gravel and county roads, is not bothered by traffic, UTVs or 4 wheelers, and is use to being ridden around various types of farm machinery. Another area of experience that Shadow has is being used around our ranch checking/fixing fences, working cattle, moving cow/calf pairs, and ponying young horses as well. He has been through desensitization lessons his entire life with all kinds of things that could possibly be scary such as balls, tarps, plastic bags, flags, inflatable tube men, leaf blowers, etc.
