Watermelon is a fun horse with a lot of eye appeal, straight legs, and tons of ability. He is solid on both ends, has a lot of run, tons of feel, and experience on all sorts of cattle from trotters to freshies. Watermelon scores well, but breaks sharp for the WS start. He has fast feet but respects your hands and waits for you to get your dallies. He’s strong on the horn handling cattle and makes things easy. On the heel side, he puts you in a great spot, stays honest, and has a smooth stop. He’s solid to the horn and will let you tie on or dally. Watermelon lopes nice circles, slides, spins, works gates and is just handy overall. We have used him on the mountain, hobbled him to graze, tied to a tree all night, rode him, packed him, you name it. We have also gathered cattle, and used him to sort and brand. If you’re looking for a fancy all around gelding that you can enjoy for years to come then take a look at Watermelon. He does have a small shin splint on his left front but it’s old and cold and doesn’t bother him at all.
