For sale due to no fault of his own. Bought as a husband horse but my back and knees just aren’t up for it. Buddy is a Dun Palomino Grade Quarter Horse. His four grandparents were all AQHA registered but his dame was not, so he is not. Grand sire “Mr Tee Red” x Grand dam “Watch My ID”. Grand sire “Hollywood Nose It” x Grand dam “Designated Acre GDA”. Buddy was born 6/22/2015. The good * Hundreds of verified trail miles; great with mountain trail / ranch trail obstacle courses and arena obstacles. * Experienced in round pen, arena, clinics, indoors and outdoors, other horses, cows, kids, dogs, bikes, umbrellas, music, camping, the works. * Walk, trot, canter on leg or voice commands * Woah and back up, turn on front or haunches * Can sidepass, halfpass, and collect with experienced rider * Loads and hauls like a champ * No vices or maintenance * Up to date on shots, vet records included * Stunning golden coat that dapples out nicely; I get so many compliments on him and he turns a lot of heads. * Great ground manners, stands quietly, good for farrier/trimmer, picks up feet, ties and cross-ties, easy to bridle, clean feet, groom, etc. * Buddy will work SO hard for you; I call him “the hardest working horse in show business” * Middle of pecking order, makes friends easy * Affectionate and in-your-pocket, sweet personality, not a deadhead robot * Has been shoed in the past, currently barefoot with all day turnout with two other horses * New Renegade hoof boots included (he’s had a few test rides in them and doesn’t even seem to notice them). * Currently being ridden a few times a week to keep him in shape. The bad * Buddy is appropriately named. He can ride out alone and trailer alone, but he’s happier with friends. Likes to join up with other horses on the trail. He’s magnetic with people too; very in-your-pocket. Once boundaries are established he’s fine, but his default seems to be affection-seeking. * Not dead to the leg: I’ve been riding Buddy as a beginner but he can get going fast if you ask for it, so if you’ve never ridden a horse before you will want to have some training on a horse that’s more dead to the leg. Buddy is happy to just clop along on the trail, but his breeding for cutting/roping/reining will shine through if you push him. * Easy Keeper: He’s a bit overweight at the moment due to over-foraging this spring. * Smart/curious: this is a double edge sword; easy to train but he will get your number if you let him. Needs a rider who understands horses and won’t let him steer you toward every patch of grass or shady rest spot. The ugly * Due to extensive trail miles he has had a few scrapes, the most major of which is that he’s missing a piece of his left eyelid. Doesn’t cause any medical issues but worth mentioning. Buddy is a sweetheart and a good home for him is really important. Better home, better price. Pre purchase exam is fine at your exp
