Good Lord Laurie, affectionately known as “Laurie,” is a beautiful dark palomino mare with a blaze and a wonderful combination of talent, ability, and a willing disposition. At 4 years old and standing 14.2 hands, she is the kind of mare that catches your eye and continues to impress the more time you spend with her. Laurie is proudly part of Premier Foxtrotters, where our focus is on producing quality Missouri Fox Trotters with great minds, solid foundations, and the ability to excel both on the trail and in the arena. Laurie is bred to be a standout. Her sire was named Breeding Sire of the Year in 2021, and her dam was a 3-Year-Old Futurity winner. Her maternal grandsire was named Stallion Sire of the Year four consecutive years (2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018) and is honored in the MFTHBA Hall of Fame. She carries a strong foundation of proven Missouri Fox Trotter bloodlines combined with the ability, athleticism, and mindset to be a dependable riding partner. Under saddle, Laurie is a smooth, naturally gaited mare with a comfortable walk, foxtrot, and running walk. She has a naturally easy way of moving and is enjoyable to ride for long periods of time. She has been ridden extensively throughout Missouri and Arkansas and has seen a wide variety of trails and environments. Laurie is an exceptional trail horse that confidently goes wherever she is asked. She is always ready to go, even on long, extended rides, covering miles with confidence, endurance, and a sure-footed stride. She handles bridges, water, mud, steep inclines, and rough terrain with a willing attitude. Laurie is the type of horse that makes every ride enjoyable and relaxing. Laurie has experience outside of just trail riding as well. She has been exposed to cattle sorting at the Ava show grounds and handles new experiences with a calm and willing attitude. She will ride at the front, middle, or back of a group and will willingly move out on a loose rein. She is comfortable in different situations and continues to show the same dependable mindset wherever she goes. Her groundwork foundation has been developed using the Clinton Anderson Method, giving her a strong understanding of softness, respect, and communication with her handler. Laurie round pens both directions, lunges both ways, yields her hindquarters and forequarters, performs sending exercises, flexes both directions, backs easily, sidepasses both away from and toward you, sidepasses over for easy mounting, and understands one-rein stops. Under saddle she has been ridden in the dog walk, running walk, foxtrot, and canter, side passes under saddle, and has been shot off of. She has also been taught to lead by the foot, helping develop confidence, softness, and the ability to give to pressure instead of panic. Laurie is easy to handle in every way. She loads easily, backs out of trailers, stands quietly for saddling, the farrier, baths, and clipping. She ties quietly, has been around dogs, pastures well with other horses
