Loyd is a 2022 AQHA gelding standing 14.3 hands. He has the mind, ability, and disposition to fit a wide variety of riders and programs. Whether you are looking for a dependable ranch horse, a rope horse prospect, a family horse, or an all-around gelding to enjoy for years to come, Loyd deserves serious consideration.
He is an absolute dream to have around and is one of those horses that makes owning and riding horses enjoyable. Loyd is gentle, willing, forgiving, and incredibly easy to get along with. He does not require a professional rider or a complicated program to stay broke. Riders of many different experience levels can comfortably ride and enjoy him.
Loyd is currently roping on the head side and is also started on the heel side. He has plenty of natural ability, rates cattle well, and is willing to do his job without becoming hot, nervous, or difficult. He has also been used to doctor calves in the pasture and understands what a real day’s work is.
Outside of the arena, Loyd is confident and dependable. He will cross bridges, water, logs, thick brush, tall grass, ditches, and uneven terrain. He is traffic safe and handles new surroundings with a quiet, sensible attitude. He will ride out alone or with other horses and does not need to be constantly babysat.
Loyd stands quietly at a mounting block and is patient while being mounted. He is the same horse whether he is ridden every day or has had time off. There is no need to longe him down or prepare him before getting on. Saddle him, step on, and go enjoy your ride.
He has shown absolutely no buck, spook, rear, bolt, or dangerous behavior. He is naturally quiet without being dull, and he is willing without being overly reactive. He listens to his rider, wants to please, and gives you confidence every time you swing a leg over him.
Loyd is easy to catch, handle, saddle, bridle, bathe, groom, and be around. He stands quietly for normal care and is respectful of your space. He has no cribbing or weaving habits and is comfortable living in a stall or being turned out.
