Journey is owned by Francesca Shanaberger, consigned by me- Martha King. Francesca has been raising saddlebreds for years and is looking to make the herd smaller so that is the reason this great gelding is available. Journey has been at my farm since the end of May where he has been receiving schooling about 5 days a week. He was lightly started with trailriding as a 3 year old, but since being at the farm has grown tremendously in his knowledge and willingness to learn. I have ridden Journey mostly with western tack but more of an English style riding. We’ve been on many trailrides with friends and without. He has a willing forward walk out on the trail and a comfortable stride. Journey has also been ridden English in the arena, mostly flat work with a few low jumps here and there. He will yield off of leg, wtc both directions, stop, back up softly etc. Stands great tied or just outside the tack room, stands nicely for the farrier. Currently has shoes only in front. Loads & unloads. Is the “everyone’s my friend but I’m independent” type in the pasture. Ive had him out with many other geldings and a few mares as well. When he arrived in May he had been getting pushed back in the herd and was in pretty poor condition. We took most of the first 2 months just building up weight and muscle. He now looks and feels so much better but will still go a long way with the correct nutrition. Can be handled, groomed, etc by children. I would recommend an instructor if it is a child rider. He does not have any vices. Is solid with no buck bolt or rear but is still learning how to properly carry himself and building up the correct type of muscle, making an intermediate-advanced rider the best fit. Priced very fairly so come out and meet him!
