This is a tough one to write because this pony is very loved but with life changes coming it’s time for him to find his new person. Where do I start? Wilbur is full of character, sure to win you over quickly with his personable demeanor and silly personality. For starters he is wonderful to have in the barn with no stable vices and is the first to meet you at the gate. He gets along with everybody and does well in a stall or pasture. He is used to being around all kinds of critters such as cows, donkeys, chickens, ducks, dogs and very used to farm chaos. Wilbur is broke to ride and has done a variety of different outings including trail riding, cow sorting, a Hunter pace, schooling level horse shows and has experience ponying horses of all different sizes. He requires a confident intermediate or above level teen or small adult rider that will be firm with him when his cheeky pony-tude comes out. Unfortunately Wilbur is not ready to be a small kids or beginners horse quite yet as he requires a consistent schedule (4-6 days per week of moderate work) to keep him behaved. He does have a spook -typically just a spin- and can be a bit quirky and testy with new riders or if he has any time off (happy to discuss further with interested parties). Besides having typical pony moments under saddle when he’s feeling sassy he is “more whoa than go”. Wilbur does everything else a good citizen should do such as stand tied, cross ties, stands for the farrier, bathes, clips, jumps into the trailer and travels quietly. He is up to date on all vaccines, dental float, deworming and on a 6 week schedule with the farrier with front shoes only. Wilbur is ready to find a home where he will be put to work and enjoyed.
