Roo — 4-Year-Old Draft Cross Mare Roo is a beautiful16-hh bay draft cross mare with a sweet personality, a solid foundation, and a lot of potential. She is the kind of young horse who has already been given a great start and is ready for someone to continue building on it. Roo is sound, healthy, and UTD on all vet and farrier care. Under saddle, Roo walks, trots, and canters and has a good understanding of basic cues. She moves nicely off leg pressure, can pivot, and leg yield. She has experience out on the trails and loves playing in the creek. She also knows how to pick her rider up from a mounting block or fence. She is almost done with 6 weeks at the trainer where she has gotten more arena training, exposure to trails, road riding, and riding through town. A big part of Roo’s education has been her groundwork. She has good ground manners, lunges well and is great at joining up in the round pen. She has had extensive exposure to desensitization work and does very well navigating our barn’s obstacle courses. She loads easily in the trailer and stands quietly for the vet and farrier. Roo is easygoing with other horses. She gets along well in a herd and generally stays comfortably in the middle to low end of the pecking order. As with any young horse, Roo is still developing. She lacks confidence and can be reactive to unfamiliar things and may be timid in new situations. Her biggest area for growth is building confidence and learning that new things are nothing to worry about. Because of this, she would be best suited to a confident, patient rider who enjoys continuing the education of a young horse rather than someone looking for a completely finished, push-button horse. With the right person, I believe Roo has a lot of potential. I could see her developing into a wonderful trail horse, or going on to excel in dressage or eventing. She has a good foundation, athletic potential, and a willingness to learn. Roo is looking for a knowledgeable home that will continue to build her confidence and help her become the best version of herself. Serious inquiries welcome. I’m happy to answer questions and provide additional information, photos, or videos to help find Roo the right home
