Stone is a gorgeous 9 year old Kentucky Mountain Gelding. He is a stout made horse that is both athletic and talented! He is naturally gaited, an outstanding trail horse, completely traffic safe, has been used around the farm and even taken to the local fun shows! We purchased Stone from an older gentleman who had owned him since he was 3. Since owning Stone ourselves we have had many big adventures and he has been a pleasure to own and ride. We are excited to offer him to someone who is looking for their forever horse- one that they know they can trust and make many lasting memories with!
Stone has a super smooth, comfortable gait that is all natural on four keg shoes. He is a dream to ride and will ride just as well in a halter as in a bridle. His previous owner actually only ever used a bosal bridle on him everywhere he went. Stone is phenomenal on the trail! His previous owner had taken him literally all over the country riding him in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, New Mexico, Idaho, Missouri and Tennessee! Our entire family has ridden him everywhere you can imagine around home in Kentucky, and we also took him with us on a two-week long trip to ride in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness in Colorado and Wyoming. He was always our little girl’s first choice when it came to her picking who she got to ride! On those 8-10 hour rides, we would catch her laid back on him, without a care in the world, while he safely packed her through the trails. These trails were the most treacherous, yet the most beautiful, we have ever ridden! The terrain was steep, rocky, and very technical at times. We climbed elevations reaching over 12,000 feet. In some places, we had to ride through miles of downed timber, which made the horses slow and cautious. We rode past waterfalls, over narrow wooden bridges, navigated through boulders and had close encounters with antelope, bear and moose. Stone handled it all like a professional! He faced each new challenge like he had done it all along and safely packed us up and down the mountain each trip! He also did great being picket-lined the majority of the time! He was the same trusted mount every single day! Stone has been used for just about everything around the farm. He has pushed and sorted cows, checked fences and moved gates also. He is up for whatever task you present and does his job well. He has also been exposed to all sorts of wildlife. Besides the antelope, bear, and moose that he has seen in Colorado and Wyoming, he has seen plenty of deer, turkey, and squirrels. He is also used to the barn goats that run in and out of the stall with him, along with the cats and dogs. The opportunity to own a horse like Stone does not come around very often. A horse like him is invaluable for safety and trust. Stone is truly a sweetheart. He loves the attention and is full of character! This horse has countless great qualities!
