7 year old mare looking for trail or ranch home. Riata is a special girl. She is the first to greet you in the pasture. Pretty bombproof. Took her to a bombproofing clinic and she waltzed through it all like she had seen it all a million times. We joke she is 14.2 by 14.2 because she is a thick drafty quarter looking mare. She would happily walk jog all day but will lope if asked. Looks for that stop. And I mean someone says whoa in the arena she will slide to a stop. Quiet demeanor so she has given rides to kids and beginners. Great with farrier. Always been barefoot. No buck, rear or bolt. Now for the cons: She lives in a dry lot with another mare and she gets along great with her but she will pin her ears and bite at geldings. We do 5 panel tests on all our horses and was shocked that she came back pssm1 positive. She can be lazy but has never tied up so we debate getting a second test done. She is on alfalfa and grass hay. Our alfalfa happens to be low nsc. We did start her on vitamin e to see if we noticed any changes. This girl is a fantastic horse that shouldn't need much more maintenance then any other horse. Large dry lot (or exercise daily) and low nsc feed. Located in Payette Idaho
