Aspen is a SUPER sweet 4 yr old mare. She is easy going and has fabulous ground manners. She is great for the vet, farrier and chiropractor. Aspen is lower in the pecking order. She has been turned out with mares and geldings with no issues. She is easy to catch 99% of the time. If she worked hard the day before she may walk away from you but usually gives up in less than a minute. She will stand tied or in cross ties all day. She is easy to load/haul/unload. Aspen stands great for grooming and tacking and takes the bridle easily. She stands quietly at the mounting block. Under saddle Aspen is super easy going. She has an easy walk/trot/canter and her trot is slowing into a nice easy jog with every ride. I would still consider her canter green as she hasn't been asked to canter a lot but she is very willing to work. We've been working on leg pressure and she is coming along nicely. She has also been started on neck reining and is about 75% of the way there. I haven't pushed the arena stuff really hard this year as she is still growing and is currently hip high. She has been ridden by kids of all ages all summer out on the trails. They adore her. She is not a speedy gal and isn't in a hurry even when being left behind. She will lead, follow or bring up the rear (She usually ends up as the caboose). She doesn't mind other horses up in her space. She does not try to snack on trails. I hauled her to Volga last fall and she was AMAZING. Crossed every bridge without hesitation, even had one time when the seasoned trail horses needed her to lead them across. She crossed every creek and water crossing without any fuss. Had to think about it the first time the water was moving but once she'd done it once it was no big deal the next few times. I am MORE than happy for Aspen to stay and become part of my lesson program next year as I adore her. However I need to cut back a bit for winter and if I find her the perfect home I am happy to do that as well. I think she would be a phenomenal project for a 4-Her looking to finish out their own horse. She would also be perfectly happy to be a trail horse for the rest of her life. She is very easy going and as long as her person wants to love on her she will be happy. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. You can also search #kyhlwoodaspen for additional photos and videos on Instagram (even without an account). She is UTD on all cares and is currently barefoot.
