Legendary Z is a very rare silver black half-Arabian colt. The color is also known as silver dapple, chocolate or taffy. It is a black base coat with the dilute silver Z gene modifier, and the color does not exist in purebred Arabians. He is not a liver chestnut or a chocolate palomino – these colors have completely different DNA. His dam is the exquisite black purebred Arabian CA Mystic Dream. With her short wedgy head, teacup muzzle and huge eyes she brough elegance and refinement to her son. A beautiful mover with a solid mind, it is a shame she was not shown in her early years. His sire is the famous silver black International and two-time World Champion Rocky Mountain Horse CD’s Gambler. An idolized show veteran with an incredible work ethic, he was also known for his long, thick silvery white mane and tail that he kept even in his senior years, and his small chiseled head. Gambler unanimously won the Show The Judges Choice Award out of 242 horses. He has sired International and World Champions. Z is two years old and ready for his next chapter as an eye-catching performance horse and/or as a sire of silver black high percentage Arabians. If bred to homozygous black mares, he will produce silver black (his color) 50% of the time, or black the other 50%. If bred to heterozygous black mares, he will produce silver black or solid black 75%. If bred to a half-Arabian silver black who is homozygous for black he will produce silver black 75%, and black 25%. This last scenario would most likely be outside of the US where the resulting foal would be registerable. He will also produce silver bay with bay and grey mares. He is currently in pasture condition and not fully shedded out in these amateur photos. He is butt-high and going through a growth spurt. I expect him to be average Arabian height, between 14.3 and 15h. He has been raised stress-free in a five-acre field with a boss gelding that taught him manners the right way. He is currently in baby boot-camp learning to load, lunge, and be a good citizen. He is a sweet, gentle boy that wants to do the right thing and is a quick learner. But he can also flag his tail and float above ground with an arched neck when playing with a new friend on the fence line. I am excited to see what a gorgeous stallion he will mature into with his unique head-turning color and his flowing silver mane and tail! He would also make a top-notch show or pleasure gelding. His diamond-in-the-rough price tag will increase if he goes to training next fall and has professional photos and videos done.
