Meet ‘Please the Media’, aka Willow, a 2002, 16.2 hand, thoroughbred mare. Willow is one of those gentle giants who has a big heart and long legs and just wants to be cuddled with. Willow loves attention, but isn’t one of those horses that is aggressive about being ‘in your pocket’. She has a sweet and timid personality who just wants to be your best friend. Willow can be turned out with both mares and geldings and falls in the lower half of the herd, but like most mares, really enjoys her food and will stand up for herself come feeding time. Although Willow is ‘older’, she proves age is just a number. We have had no problems with sign of arthritis. Under saddle, Willows floaty lovely movement! She was a dressage horse before I got her, and I had intentions of her becoming my next upper-level eventing horse but she want to be more of a fox hunter we found out this fail. Willow’s personality means she is a sensitive horse under saddle. This sensitivity does also mean that she can get a bit tense in stressful situations. This makes eventing hard for her. I would like to see Willow go to a home where she can do some dressage training or she could make an excellent fox hunter horse. Willow would so fit well into a hunter schooling barn. She is really suitable for any discipline with the right rider, just doesn’t have a mindset that handles things like cross country courses or barrel racing type situations well. Willow is excellent for lunging, trailering, farrier and vet.
