Sonnet is the youngest 21 year old you will ever meet. She has more endurance and willingness then most horses half her age, all packed into the calmest "been there done that, wore out the t-shirt" disposition you'll ever find. Sonnet is a packer, she'll pack anyone from little kids on their first ride, to GrandMa's last "bucket list ride". That's what she's been doing, plus giving us 2 beautiful babies. Honestly, she's bored, she loves to get out on the trails, she has the smoothest gaits I've ever ridden, and will poke along at a dog walk, if you're riding with non-gaited horses, or pop into one of her many different super smooth multi gaits.
Whether you are an experienced fox trotter rider, or a complete newbie, she will take care of you, and give you the ride of a lifetime, all wrapped up in a beautiful, compact black body. Sonnet wasn't started under saddle until she was 8, before that she raised 2 beautiful fillies. She was trained on the trail, and it's where she loves to be. She's always been 100% sound, an easy keeper, gets along with other horses, and is an amazing ride. No horse is "bombproof" but Sonnet is probably the closest to it I've ever seen, when bothered by something, she "snorts" at it. With a lot of horses, that "snorting" is a precursor to whatever their "escape mechanism is", with Sonnet that's it, she stops "snorts" and looks at it, then when you say "lets go" she walks on by. She's never shown any marish tendencies, she's as easy to get along with as a gelding. She's being wasted, just sitting in our pasture, and I'm too busy with training the young ones, to be able to get her out where she wants to be, so if you're looking for your next (or even first) trail partner, here she is.
