Haflinger Mare 13 years old 14.3 $2500 (reduced for quick sale)
Stunning good looks! Bottom on the pecking order, gets along great with her pasture mates and doesn’t pick fights or get into scuffles. Energetic, walks out on the trail, suitable for a lot of hours under saddle. She really enjoys getting out and covering miles.
Great size, not too tall, but stocky enough for even tall riders. I’m 5’9” and don’t feel awkward on her at all. Has a crates saddle purchased new by her owner that fits her well that could be included for an additional $1000
Vasy keeper, currently barefoot and not tender, easy to catch, no spook, no bite, kick, rear etc. LOTS of professional training in the arena. This is a solid and safe mare for a confident intermediate.
The “Less Good”: She has foundered, so isn’t a candidate for a pasture home. She needs dry lot and grass hay, which she keeps well on. She doesn’t sit well. With consistent riding she’s quiet and steady. She stands quiet for saddling, relaxed at the hitch rail, quietly while you get on. If she sits awhile and you pull her out she paws, fidgets, wants to walk off when you mount up etc.
She’s a great girl looking for a home that will cover a lot of miles. She would be great for a confident teen or adult who plans to ride often. My 14 year old son showed in her 4-H last year. She didn’t win a lot of ribbons, but got great exposure and experience. She was nervous and fidgety the first few days and calm and lovely at the end. She would make a great little 4-H horse. She isn’t a little kid’s horse or suitable for a beginner because she will take advantage be the leader. She needs someone with enough horsemanship skills to be a strong leader for her.
