I purchased Addie with the hopes of using her for my lesson program but she is too forward for the job I need filled. I am not in a rush to sell her and will continue to use and trail ride her until we find her the right home. She has phenomenal ground manners. She will stand tied all day and cross ties well. She is easy to saddle and bridle. She loads and unloads well. She is super easy to catch and will nicker to remind you when its breakfast or dinner time.
Addie has been ridden by my students ages 12-18. She is definitely not for a beginner as she has a motor. We have taken her on the trails and she did well. She was not spooky in the slightest. She is starting to relax in the arena and has learned that walking isn't so bad. She will happily walk as long as you want and will come back to a walk easily from both a trot and canter. Addie has a nice driven trot and easily covers ground. She has a great forward canter. She does seem a little weaker in her right lead than in her left and occasionally falls out of it or cross fires. She is quick to fix it but does need some conditioning. Addie is currently learning about self carriage and giving to the bridle.
We suspect that Addie may have been a chuck wagon horse at some point. She is very lopsided in her muscle and her left side is definitely stronger. She had a hard time in the beginning with her right lead. She would immediately try to take off the second you mounted. We are currently working on all of these issues. She stands nice and quiet now to be mounted. She will take her right lead but occasionally falls out of it or cross fires. She will walk nicely and seems to have figured out that the goal isn't always forward.
We have been riding her English and she seems to enjoy that. We will possibly start her over some low fences and see how she takes to jumping. She has improved every time we have taken her out on the trails. She now walks quietly with the occasional few trot steps. Addie likes to be in the lead but doesn't fight for it.
