11 year old Morgan / Arabian cross mare for sale, approximately 14.1 H tall. Classy looking horse with a Morgan physique with an Arabian face. This charming mare is well suited to a trail riding home with an intermediate or better rider with soft hands. I ride her both english and western, in a snaffle bridle. This mare likes to lead on the trail with a ground covering walk and smooth comfortable trot. I have ridden her in the middle and at the end of the group too. She is coming along well as a trail horse, doing well navigating water crossings, logs and other trail obstacles and moving with sure-footedness on steep terrain. I used her to work cattle at a round up and branding weekend and she was fun, definitely not a "cow horse" but did the job at hand.
My goal was to train this mare for pony club mounted games and limited distance endurance riding. As I have increased her work load, it is my feeling she is not sound enough to be suited to the activities we bought her for - endurance or mounted games. Indy is off when asked to move on a circle. She rides best with 1/2 of an Equioxx tablet before riding. Because of this need for light medication, she would be better suited to a casual trail or pleasure riding home than a competitive home so she can have an Equioxx or similar tablet to be comfortable. She is not registered, but with DNA submission could be eligible for either/both Morab and/or Half Arabian registries if desired for broodmare or if interested in those type of breed shows or recognition.
The mare is barefoot trimmed on a 4 week cycle and wears Easyboot Gloves on trail rides or goes barefoot on soft terrain. She is a very easy keeper, you will have to watch her weight. At my house, she is on free choice grass hay with a 1 3/4" net and 1# per day of Triple Crown Ration Balancer. She trailers great, ties on the trailer or in the barn no problem, fine for fly spray, bathing, clipping, goes out alone or in a group, her under saddle disobediences are easily redirected. I was told she had been a driving mare, however I have not driven her at all, I have brought her along as a riding horse.
Current on vaccinations, deworming, Coggins and brand inspection paperwork. I had her teeth floated November 2019. I had the vet evaluate her lameness March 2020, we opted for a cycle of Adequan and then followed with Equioxx as needed.
