“Red” is a hard-to-find type of horse with excellent training, gentle temperament, and handsome good looks. He is an athletic little gelding (2009) standing at 14.3 hands that reflects his royal AQHA reining/cowhorse breeding with Skeets Peppy (Peppy San Badger) on the top side The Shining Jewel (Shining Spark) on the bottom. He is a dark red sorrel with a big thick tail, a forehead star, and a balanced and muscular conformation. At shows, people ask his breeding because of his resemblance to Skeets Peppy. He is very sound with hard round feet, clean legs, and no scars.

He was foaled and trained as a reiner and has NRHA lifetime earnings (LTE) of $8,430. In Virginia, he has been to NRHA shows, trail-ridden in our valley, and shown at local shows in Ranch and Hunter Under Saddle (wt because he has a big stop!). This horse has had extensive professional training and is well-broke and fun to ride. He is very soft in the bridle and ready to go show or have fun with all of the cues for reining maneuvers. With so much training and athleticism, he is best-suited for an intermediate rider.

Red is a very sweet horse and likes people. He gleefully trots to the gate to meet you and nickers when you come in the barn. He is gentle and friendly in his stall, does not crib, has never kicked anyone or jerked backward or bucked or reared, and does not have annoying stall habits. In the field, he gets along with other horses (and the mini donkey). He is content to ride out alone or with others. He lopes/trots through puddles in the arena without hesitation and crosses large double culverts over the local creek but don't know about creeks. He bathes, loads, clips, and hauls. He stands quietly for blanketing, leg wraps, fly spray, and the vet. He has been around dogs, cats, goats, and chickens. He is currently wearing regular shoes.

He can stay with us, but the covid situation is making increasing demands on my time and resources, and this horse thrives on regular work. Red is ‘healthy as a horse’ and deserves the attention of a new ‘person’, whether as a reiner or another type of show or using horse. Price negotiable to a good home. Vet checks are welcome.
