Sky (formerly Hondo) is a 13 year old, 12.2 hand Welsh/Hackney cross. He is not a small kids’ or lesson horse. My 7 year old has been riding him for the last year, but he’s just too much for her in certain situations. He does much better with a confident, experienced and bigger rider. He’s not afraid to pull every trick in the book on a beginner or too small of a rider.

He loves to jump and is fun to ride, with smooth gaits and easy transitions. He’s great on the trails and will go through water, over logs and bridges, etc. He’s like a little mountain goat, lol. We did cow sorting twice too, and I think with some practice he could be decent at it! Except that he was almost the same size as the cows 😂

If he’s not worked regularly, he can be a tiny bit spooky. We haven’t had a problem lately, but he definitely spooked a few times when we first got him. He also gets anxiety sometimes when you take him to events (it may be just gaming events. I’m not sure because we only took him once. He's fine trail riding though). He definitely knows the barrel pattern and I've been told he's great at poles. He's also done 4-H and Hunters.

He does have sweet itch, which I manage with Zyrtec and fly sheets, plus we’re trying the Platinum Performance Allergy this year and he’s doing great. He needs to be somewhere with good fly and mosquito management.

He ties perfectly, bathes, has fabulous feet (truly the best I’ve ever seen!) and will stand patiently for all the grooming/decorating/glittering your heart desires 😂. He’s gorgeous and perfectly built. Excellent with other horses! He ponies great as well. UTD on vaccines, worming and I just had his teeth floated.

I would say a small teenager/adult would be perfect for him. Trail riding or a jumping home would be ideal. He will absolutely steal your heart, so I’d really like to find him the forever home he deserves. If he were bigger, I'd probably just keep him. Make no mistake, he’s a punk, but he’s the sweetest, most lovable punk you’ll ever meet.
