Hi there! Rufus is a 4y/o, 17.1hh Chestnut Belgian gelding. He is beautiful, sweet, & very friendly! Rufus is currently barefoot & is UTD on trim, wormer, coggins, vaccines, dental float, & recent vet check. He is sound. Rufus was started under saddle this past year & is doing awesome! Since he's still young yet we'd recommend intermediate riders & above. He's never done anything mean or wrong such as rear, buck, or bolt. He'd just really excel with more consistency & miles. It would be ashame to let him sit around & hardly be used as this is the perfect time to shape him into anything. He has an endless amount of potential, is a clean slate, & learns do dang fast that he is guaranteed to do amazing things! Rufus will w/t & has a nice, comfortable slow lope! Hes a good mix of whoa/go. We've introduced him to the ring & some jumps a few things. He's been ridden bareback, English, or western. While with us we've taken him on many trail rides & hauled to different locations. He goes where he's pointed & isn't fussy when it comes to going alone or with others. Covers all terrains. Check out his videos to see how willing & brave he is. Even if he gets unsure, or weary about new scary things, he doesn't tend to overreact & will trust you enough to guide him as to what to do. He rides downtown next to heavy traffic & crowds of people. Rufus enjoys all types of attention. Hes very gentle on the ground & mild mannered. Stalls or can live out. Is in a mixed herd. Our farrier does not use stocks. Rufus isn't a fan of fly spray currently but gets better daily. Hes been driven single or double but mostly double. Driving single he's a little green with small things like turning. He stands to harness/hitch. Rufus would make a great addition for anyone wanting a sweet, young, large draft with the best of the belgian qualities. With some finishing he would excel at absolutely anything. Dressage, shows, cart classes, jumps, 4H, lessons, fox hunts, & so much more!
