Dutch is a calm, cool, seasoned family type mule. He is a confident and competent trail mule that is gentle, gentle, gentle. It does not matter where… be it in the high rockies or through down town traffic… he will deftly pick his way through any situation. Dutch has seen all manners of wildlife and does not spook. He has encountered large predators, backpackers, cyclists, ATVs, mad cows, and over compensating backyard turkeys. He will go where you point him… crossing water, bogs and bridges. Dutch has been on several day, overnight camping trips. He has packed meat and has been shot off his back. Dutch is also well versed in cattle work. He has sorted pairs and yearlings and drug calves at brandings and for tagging. He has spent a little time in a feedlot. Dutch has a nice handle. He neck reins and moves off leg pressure. He rides between the reins. Dutch has no problem keeping pace with big horses. He is patient and calm. He will walk slow until urged, and then make most big horses work hard to keep up with his walk. Our 9 year old son absolutely loves this guy. He is able to saddle, bridle, and ride out alone. Dutch is also a favorite among our hired help. When there is a job to be done, he’ll do it without any fuss. Dutch cinches deep and is as stout as they come. He will fit almost any sized rider. The two men in the video are both over 6 feet in height. He loves to be groomed and usually falls asleep. He also has the most beautiful tail we have ever seen on a mule and a dark kind eye that’ll make you fall in love! Dutch has had no lameness or health issues.
