Romeo is a 16hh, 9 y/o gelding in search of a new address. Romeo is a testy horse that thrives in consistent work and with a consistent rider. I’m going to give the good and then the bad, with as much honesty as I can. The good: He has schooler dressage movements through 2nd level, and shown at several schooling shows. Romeo is not a spooky horse, so long as his rider isn’t spooky. He truly loves to please once you earn his trust, and will do just about anything. He loves trail riding and going out places. He has free jumped to 1.50 meter, and jumped under saddle up a meter. He truly loves anything that will keep his mind occupied, and I think he would thrive in a jumping, eventing, or maybe even a gaming home. He’s 100% sound, every day. He’s good for the farrier, for baths, and usually for loading, though he doesn’t love smaller trailers. The bad: Romeo is the type of horse who needs consistent work and consistent boundaries, both on the ground and under saddle. He is very mouthy if you let him get away with it. He has been sitting more than I would like the past several months, and he does tend to be pretty resistant to forward movement when not riding regularly. He will kick out at your leg, and if the rein aid is too strong, can rear. I have never experienced any super broncy behavior, but it can scare people. Once you work him through about 10-15 minutes of bad behavior, he will do almost anything you ask. Due to the facility he is at, and the amount he has been sitting I would prefer not to do trial rides at this time. I would be open to sale, or a lease, but he is a bit of a project at this point. I think he would also be an awesome candidate for a resale project, as he has all the knowledge and really does just need some consistent work again. Feel free to reach out with any questions, or potentially to come see him.
