I was over at this Amish family's place to take Professional photos for the Black Hills Stock Show sale, several of them are going to, & they said that they were going to offer their kids pony for sale. The Dad (Jake) bought this little fellow as a started 2 yr old, & Jake's little brother rode & drove him until Jake's kids were old enough to use him. The pony is a 9 yr old now and the prime age for value so they are offering him & will have a younger one coming along. I worked with this pony, trimmed & rasped his feet and then borrowed a set of battery clippers to trim his face up to look better for the video. He is a sweat heart to work with. Acts like he has been clipped all his life. Stands patently for his mane & tail to be brushed out and I used a sprayer with show sheen on his mane & tail so I know he doesn't care about a spray bottle. He is a more whoa than go pony. But no bad habbits, no buck, bite, kick or run off. Tiny beginner kids will need a little older kid or adult to make him go forward when he is asked. Any child who can give him a swat will be fine. In my opinion a quirt or short rope for the kids to use to swat him, is the best, that is what I had Alice do when she was little. This is the type of pony my daughter Alice's was when she was 2 & 3 yrs old. Perfect pony for tiny kids to start on or bigger kids to gain confidence. I have been watching the internet auctions & think this pony is a deal. Jake wasn't there to help me so I didn't have the to make a very good video of him doing anything. But it does let you know he is very gentle. Jake told me later on the phone that his oldest son (6yrs) can work the cutting flag on this pony, he will trot along stop & turn on the flag. This pony doesn't care about a blue tarp, would be fine with going over obstacles and turning around cones. Jake's phone is 605-440-7517, leave a message & he will call you back!
