Let me just start off by saying, Holiday is an absolute joy to ride!! She has her own motor but remains very responsive to your aids. She has a solid walk, trot, canter foundation and is started on small cross rails and verticals. She moves nicely off your leg, will collect or extend when asked, and is soft in the mouth. Just how soft is “soft” ? Well, she rides in a flexible rubber snaffle…so, very soft. I’ve had her out hacking in the woods alone and jumped a few logs, nothing phases her at all. This horse absolutely loves to ride out on trails. She crosses bridges, streams and logs, walks into lakes, and is very careful where she puts her feet on steep, rocky hills. She will take care of you without a second thought! She is also started under western tack. She side passes, stops off your seat, backs easily, and is started on a spin. She has already exhibitioned at a few barrel races and handled it like it was nothing. She will stand tied at the trailer all day long and was not phased by the busy, hectic warm up ring at all. Overall, she’s a super fun, versatile mare with a TON of potential, and the best part? She’s SAFE. Absolutely no buck, bite, rear, bolt, etc. No funny business at all!! She is worth her weight in gold and is offered for a STEAL for such an amazing horse. She is absolutely youth suitable for a confident kid or teen. I will always recommend having a trainer handy for a youth/young horse combo, but I have no doubt she would be able to be easily finished in whatever discipline you decide by a kid working with a trainer. I would not recommend her for a beginner, simply because she is a more forward ride in the ring and not the deadhead lesson horse type. I’ve had an intermediate on her in the ring and out trail riding with zero issues at all. If I could afford another personal horse right now, she would absolutely be staying with me. She has very quickly become a family favorite at home, just like she was on the track. I galloped her on the track and I am also close with the trainer that started her career on the track as a 2 year old. Because of that, I am able to tell you, with confidence, that she has been sound through her whole racing career and retired sound. She hadn’t taken a single off step on the track and has continued that to her life post-track. She does still have 4 shoes on since most of the riding we are able to do right now has some rocky trails and frozen ground. The only reason I kept the shoes on is as a preventative. She turns out in a mixed herd, with no issues whatsoever. In the barn, she stands hard tied or in cross ties, stands for the vet and farrier, and absolutely loves to be groomed and bathed. I have TONS of pictures and videos. Feel free to text me to see them! 717-982-5044
