Let me tell you about Danny. He is a heck of a horse if you are looking for a trail companion/friend. He loves to go but he is also about taking care of me on the trail. He doesn’t spook easily and he is very good about keeping my knees off of the trees. He will put himself in some of the most unusual places just so I can mount him and I swear he understands what I’m asking of him. One time I climbed up on a rock and I was on the wrong side and I said, “Danny, I can’t get on this side you are going to have to turn around.” And He Did!. I thought he was walking away but he turned right around and backed into place. He loves the trails but there are times he wants to take a turn not on my map or where I want to go so he needs a little persuasion so I tap him with me spurs and that is all it takes. He will come to me from the field because he knows I have a treat for him (he loves granola bars). He loads without me having to go in the trailer (he is in the last stall). Danny loves to lead. He will go anywhere in the line but he is happiest up front because he wants to see everything. He will go through anything on the trail but he can be a little hesitant on bridges. We usually let someone else go first and then off he goes. Then the next time…no problem. He is so smart and wants to please. He can stay in the field for months and you can get on him as though no time has pasted at all. He is a very consistent horse.
