"Ike” is an 8 year old, 15.2hh, gray, grade Quarter Horse gelding. He weighs roughly 1150 lbs.
Ike was broke under saddle when we bought him and then he spent an additional 120 days with a cowhorse trainer in winter 2022/2023. While in training, he was started on working cattle and the flag, opening/closing gates, roping cattle, dragging logs, and he got some fine tuning on other important fundamentals. He drug calves to the fire at a branding and proved to be a quick learner and pretty handy. He has also ponied other horses, and he lunges.
He's a great all-around horse that will go the speed you want him to go, and he stays that way even after a long winter off. He’s soft in the mouth, moves away from your leg, travels out well and is comfortable to ride at all gates.
Ike has been ridden in the arena and outside alone - he is not barn or buddy sour. He has also learned basic Ranch Riding patterns in the arena. He’s been started on a lot of useful things enough to be familiar, but not have any issues. This gelding will do pretty much anything you ask him to do as long as you are patient and fair.
Overall, Ike is an easy keeper, but like many horses these days he needs basic maintenance every so often (joint injections). This is very common and most vets provide this service. X-rays and info available upon request. PPE is welcome at buyer’s expense.
