Yes, that’s his name but he goes by Henry, which suits his goofy personality! Note: video is 2 months old - need to get a more recent one, as he's improved a lot since Jan in terms of lightness and consistency. <3 I bought Henry as a Country Pleasure prospect (he got a late start at age 4 and was in and out of a few barns before I bought him) and he’s more comfortable as a Hunter. So, I made the decision to take him out of training, roll up my sleeves, and train him myself to save some cash. After six months of dedicated work, I'm pleased to report that we've made some real strides. Now, Henry stands patiently at the mounting block and waits for my cue before walking off. He's learned to maintain a loose rein until I ask for more and has become much more respectful of my space on the ground (although we've had a few firm discussions about boundaries – he's "learned his size" somewhere along the way!). He's a lot softer in the bridle, responding well to a soft Myler bit, and has developed solid lateral work. Plus, he no longer throws a fit when transitioning into the canter. Despite his progress, Henry does have his quirks. He has a tendency to spin in his stall and insists on investigating everything with his nose. While he gets along great with my mare in the pasture, he often needs a reminder to respect personal space – both hers and mine. He’s got a larger than life goofy gelding personality and is really quite sweet. Having said all this, I'm just an amateur and largely 'making it up as I go', so perhaps he could be further along in a full time training barn? Who knows. Either way, he's BIG and strong and needs a strong rider to match, but I'm now super ripped...which is a nice sliver lining. :) I haven’t put a stick on him, but I bet he’s 17HH. Sired by DGL Saxon out of the National Champion producing Saddleseat mare, Flameworthy. I’m open to a trade if you’ve got a nice purebred Arab that’s comparable in quality and potential (prefer something that’s an all arounder, old school-type). A horse is worth what a buyer will pay. In the case of Henry, I have no idea what he’s worth, but I picked a number that helps recover some of my cash, write an honest, straight-forward ad and see what people think. Looking forward to seeing how this goes and who reaches out!
