For your consideration: 2016 OTTB “Saphira” 16 hands, 9 years old Salisbury, NC Unfortunately I’ve come to the difficult decision to rehome this girl. She does not enjoy the hustle and bustle of a sport horse life and would enjoy a quieter career. Saphira is one of the sweetest mares I have ever met. She’s a pleasure to have in the barn. Stands to be groomed and tacked, picks up all four feet, good for the farrier and vet. She will cross tie, she does not straight tie well. She stands still at the mounting block. She will trailer load but can be anxious about it sometimes. She has some buddy sour tendencies but with consistency and patience we have worked through that. She has been ridden English and western. She WILL NOT be your next show horse, she does not travel well and would prefer a home where she can stay put and have the same routine every day. She is on the greener side but willing. Saphira would do best in a low level home where she can just walk or trot around on a looser rein. She does canter but it can be a bit quick and uncoordinated. She would love a home where she can be loved on and groomed and have a lighter workload. She would also be very content to be somebody’s pasture ornament/ companion horse. Currently on 24/7 turnout and does best with that, and barefoot with great feet. She does have a broken tail (it doesn’t move at all) and funny looking eye from things that happened during her racing days. Neither of these affect her in any way, but she does require fly boots in the warmer months. Serious inquiries only Video available upon request
