4 year old 15.3/16h bay gelding by unified out of an Indian Charlie mare. This boy is quiet, quiet, quiet. He absolutely did not want to be a racehorse, and was retired. He gets along with everyone in the paddock, he has had his shoes pulled, is sound but still adjusting and getting daily care to ensure his adjustment continues. As with any horse coming off the track, to be barefoot takes work, otherwise he can have shoes put back on and will be fine if the owner prefers. He stands, loads, ties (forever if asked) crossties perfect, lifts all feet, bathes, and is not spooky. He’s a thinker and smart. Only vice is the Mild cribbing described below. This guy seems to be coming into his own with movement and looks as if he’s going to have a natural headset with a flat knees trot and very dainty looking when he is worked with more. He is not the competitive type, when out with the other horses and they all take off, he will be spotted cantering behind them without a hurry in the world. Nothing has seemed to phase him, including my toddler insisting on helping clean his stall. We have been adjusting his feed regimine and this includes ulcer treatment to include hind gut health as I suspect he may have come with some ulcers. He was a cribber at the track, which seems to be subsiding substantially here at home. The cribbing was all the time at track, now only at feeding, and seems to be less frequent when eating. He has not worn a collar since first day here, but I think between his treatment and collar the cribbing will stop.
