Curly has so many good qualities. He stands well for the farrier and is currently shod. He will go over or through anything you ask him to. Bridges and water are not a problem. Hikers, bikers, cars, motorcycles and dogs do not phase him. He will overnight tied to the trailer, respects hot wire, has been high-tied and has been hobbled. Loads and unloads easily into the trailer. Easy to tack up and has great ground manners. At 4 years old I took him and his half brother on the John Wayne trail ride and alternated riding them every other day. We were lead riders and he was ridden about 100 miles on the 18 day ride. He did well, started off hot and nervous but calmed down after a couple miles each time he was ridden. Curly is looking for his special person. He is a sweet, sensitive boy that needs a soft, understanding hand. He was started lightly at 2 years old and has been ridden very lightly since then. I gave him a year long break last year so that he could mature so he has only been ridden twice in the past year He was very concerned with having a rider on his back. He is reactive to sounds and motion happening above him. He will need to be restarted in the saddle and his price reflects that. He is not for a child or a beginner. He must have someone who is quiet and knows how to handle a sensitive horse or go to a trainer that can restart him. Please move on if you are not a quality horse handler and rider. His potential will not be reached with someone that will cowboy him or mistreat him. I have additional pictures and a couple of short videos of his gait under saddle. The photo with this ad is Curly in his light colored winter coat. He sheds out to gorgeous light gold. I will be traveling most of the summer and do not want him to sit unused. His dam was not registered so he cannot be registered but I have the pedigree for both the dam and the sire.
