Zen is looking for his perfect person! Someone patient, kind, experienced, and ready to build a meaningful partnership with a horse who’s sensitive, playful, and full of personality. He has that fairytale presence with beautiful movement and striking looks, but what really sets him apart is his class clown energy. Zen loves his people, thrives on connection, and is always up for attention or a game. He’s the kind of horse who makes you laugh just as much as he makes you think. Zen was originally purchased as a confidence builder for dressage and trails, but that didn’t turn out to be the case. He arrived with more baggage than expected, including gaps in training, confidence issues (especially on the ground) and a previously undisclosed conformation flaw in a hind leg. That said, he’s never offered anything unsafe under saddle. Even when unsure, he’s honest and tries hard. With more whoa than go, he’s a quiet, responsive ride who appreciates being given time to think. What we love about him: • Bold and curious: he’s calmly handled tarps, flags, barrels, logs, even low-flying jets • Has trail experience and hacks out in the field • Clicker trained and loves learning new things - he can stick out his tongue and smile on cue • Goes well bitless, bareback, or in a bit • Once he trusts you, he’s genuinely so fun and easy to be around What he needs: • Patience with mounting - he can get nervous and move his hindquarters, though this is improving • Someone experienced with sensitive or complex horses • Consistency and clarity - he does best with firm, kind boundaries • A person who values progress over perfection • Someone who can read a horse and help him feel safe. If he’s pushed too far or doesn’t understand what’s being asked, he may react defensively Other notes: • Slightly dropped hind fetlock, no current soundness issues; imaging available • Not suitable for beginners, or timid riders, requires a handler with experience rehabilitating horses • Best in a confident, experienced home focused on long term connection Zen is a good hearted, expressive horse with tons of potential in the right hands. If you’re looking for a partner to grow with, he just might be the one. Video and pics upon request.
