Empress is a 7yr 17.2 h clyde cross mare. She also was imported from Canada where she was ridden/driven and everything in between. You might look at her pictures and think she is heavy but I encourage you to watch the video. I bought her because I thought people want a big horse that can carry weight but also be athletic. She is all of that! Trail video https://youtu.be/vYNB3hQaQg4 Empress shipped great from Canada. She has spent hours in the beauty parlor and has been a star. She is excellent for clipping, baths, grooming, tacking and more. She has been excellent in turnout and in her stall. She is a big girl but has extremely good manners. I have to say this mare blew me away watching her go. I stress myself when I tie up a lot of funds in horses. I don't feel as comfortable because these are not really my area of expertise. I am learning as I go but I trust my gut a lot. I also trust my contacts. She said anyone can ride this horse and she is the type that will do it all. She hasn't steered me wrong yet. You watch this mare go and you think darn she could event/hunt/trail ride/be a husband horse/guest horse and everything in between. She is soft, balanced, uphill and three good gaits. She might look heavy but she can canter on the spot and turn on a dime. She was quite nice over the jumps! She is unfit coming off a really rough winter in Canada so get her fit and watch out baby :) This girl is going to rock around the event courses or kick butt out hunting. They had her in western tack so I know she is lovely western as well! We said today this is the kind that sells on horse bid auctions for mid 5's all day long. Good luck finding them! She was going in a rubber bit today so I would say she is pretty light and very balanced. Not heavy at all! Her transition are lovely as well. She already wants to make a cute shape and I bet we will teach her to be soft very quickly. I even saw her do two lead changes :) She has the best personality and is absolutely stunning. She has no vices or soundness issues. She picks up her feet very well. The following day she went out for a trail ride where she was absolutely foot perfect. Crossed bridges, through the water, passing traffic, jumping logs and even some roman riding :) You can mount her from the fence post. This mare is something you could put anyone on and send them out knowing they will actually enjoy themselves.
