“Blair” is located in Charlottesville, VA doing what he loves best, fox hunting! He displays all the best qualities of his versatile breed. Strong and elegant, the Irish Draught is closer to a warmblood. Ideal for hunting, he offers a smooth, ground covering stride, coupled with incredible balance and lightness in his step. Well-muscled, but not heavy. He carries a lovely, rhythmic tempo. Very correct confirmation with great feet. Good solid bone and strong hindquarters, this horse is built to last. Versatile is an understatement. In addition to hunting, he could do dressage, eventing, or hunt night classes. He has two solid seasons of hunting in Virginia (Farmington Hunt Club) and surrounding states. Experience in hill toppers and 2nd flight. Ability to go 1st (we’ve just never asked him to, owner prefers 2nd). In addition to hunting, he has been going on hunter paces, summer rides and miles and miles of trails in our local trail system. You can take a leisurely trail ride on the buckle or rock n roll across hill and dale. He does it all. He is happy to lead or follow over jumps. Crosses any kind of water from trickling streams to raging rivers. Gets gates. Steps up to just about anything to be mounted. If you can think of it, chances are he’ll do it. At only 10 years old, he is ready to be your next life-time hunt horse. Why has he become available you may ask? Sadly, his owner is forced to look for a shorter, narrower hunt horse due to medical setbacks. If you are looking for big and handsome, this is definitely your guy! Loads and travels quietly. Will stand tied up or on the trailer. Great for bathing, clipping, sheath cleaning, etc. Cross ties and straight ties. Loves his stall. Easy going personality, will hang out to be groomed for hours. Clean vetting from November 2023, no injuries or lameness since. UTD on everything. Serious Inquiries only. Experienced Foxhunters preferred.
