Big Delilah is a 9-year-old Jockey Club registered Thoroughbred mare standing 16.2 hands. Substantially built and resembling a Quarter horse. She offers both athleticism and versatility, making her suitable for a wide variety of disciplines.
Delilah has a well-rounded foundation in english and has formal dressage training, she has started western training. She is currently being offered as an all-around horse. She has three years of dressage training and many years of english training. While she is well-schooled on the flat, she does NOT enjoy jumping and would not be a candidate for that. If you are looking for a jumper she isn't your girl. Delilah clearly prefers Western riding, where she can carry herself with a naturally low headset, she shows an interest for gymkhana events, especially barrels, poles, and flags.
She also enjoys trail riding, she confidently crosses water, and has participated in fox hunts. She isn't spooky out on the trails. She is started on barrel and pole patterns and enjoys speed events, yet maintains a level-head. Delilah has large, ground-covering gaits that are smooth and comfortable to ride. She has a solid walk, trot, canter, back, sidepass, and yield shoulders and hindquarters. She has also been ridden around bareback. She has ridden over tarps, has a rope tossed off of her, she takes it all in stride. She would make a great ranch prospect or all around western horse. Delilah does better when being worked and having a job.
While not spooky or reactive, she is a forward and powerful mover when asked. For that reason, we recommend her for an intermediate rider or above who is comfortable with a larger, forward horse.
Delilah is easy to catch, stands tied, crossties well, stands for the farrier and vet. She will stand quietly to be bathed and groomed. She loads right up into the trailer. She can be stalled at night or turned out 24/7, has been turned out with the herd and is a bit of a boss mare. She doesn't have any health concerns, has been an easy keeper. She does require shoes all 4 feet.
