A MIDAS TOUCH — “MIDAS” They say the Midas touch turns everything to gold, and one look at this handsome devil will tell you exactly how he got his name. A Midas Touch is a 5-year-old, 15.2-hand palomino gelding with the size, looks, brain, and talent to take you just about anywhere you want to go. He absolutely shines like gold, but as beautiful as he is standing still, what truly makes Midas special is the heart, mind, and talent behind all that gold. This gelding has already seen more country than many horses twice his age. He has been ridden through Yosemite and numerous parks, covering miles of trails and seeing all kinds of country along the way. Mountains, water, bridges, rocks, timber, brush, steep country, and narrow trails—you point him toward it and Midas handles himself like a horse that understands how to take care of his rider and get where you ask him to go. He is solid, sensible, and knows how to handle a situation. New surroundings don’t make him forget what he knows. He pays attention, thinks his way through things, and gives you that good feeling of having a capable horse underneath you. He will ride out alone or travel comfortably with a group and is the kind you can load up, take somewhere new, and enjoy the day. Midas has also spent time working cattle, and it is something he truly enjoys. He has been used to gather and sort cattle, and he is willing and attentive when there is work to be done. With his size, good mind, and natural ability, I could easily see him making someone a fantastic ranch partner. Whether you want to spend the day gathering cattle, checking pastures, or simply covering country horseback, Midas has the foundation and willingness to step into that role. In the arena, Midas rides the way one should. He is comfortable in his gaits, picks up his leads, stops nicely, backs, and has a good handle. He has been given a solid foundation, and that foundation opens the door to so many possibilities. Because of his sensible mind and the experience already underneath him, Midas can fit a variety of riders. You can take him home and simply enjoy him exactly as he is, or take that solid foundation and shape him into whatever direction you choose. He has the brain, size, movement, and natural talent to go on and do so many different things. And while he looks pretty darn good underneath a western saddle, I could absolutely see Midas going English. At 15.2 hands, with that beautiful golden color, size, presence, and way of moving, he would look every bit as stunning in English tack.
