Here’s a really nice bay colt out of KT Copper Isabelle (“Izzy”) and sired by Midnight Kat DR (“MC”). This colt combines elite reining and cutting genetics with ranch-proven cow sense — and he’s 83% NFQHA.
MC is by Starlight Midnight, a 2002 black stallion and NRHA money-earner who qualified for the 2007 AQHA World Show in Junior Heeling. He earned over 60 AQHA points along with his Register of Merit. Starlight Midnight is a son of the legendary Grays Starlight, whose offspring have earned over $10 million and made him one of the leading sires in NRHA, NRCHA, and NCHA competition, as well as a top broodmare sire.
MC’s dam, Slick As A Cat DR, is by Magneticat, a big, red roan stallion known for bone, size, stop, and cow sense. Magneticat is sired by Metallic Cat, one of the most influential cutting sires in the industry. Slick As A Cat DR’s dam is by Smooth As A Cat, stacking this colt’s pedigree with serious cowhorse power.
On the bottom side, Izzy is equally impressive. We were able to show her in NFQHA before she sustained an injury, and she then spent several years working on the ranch before joining our broodmare band. She’s one of our favorites — extremely cowy, quick-footed, and the kind that goes looking for cattle (and keeps an eye on the dogs too).
