Rocket has been raised by our family since weaning. He has been out in a herd, in stalls, around a busy barn with kids and activity, and he handles it all like a happy-go-lucky guy. This horse has the personality everyone wants--first one to the gate when he sees you! He has been a barn favorite and loves people. We started him at 3 to give him a chance to grow and work on his ground-schooling. He has had over a year of professional training but is not ready for the show ring. Instead we had him trained to go English, Western and Ranch/Trail Class to see what he was best at. His new owner can put the polish on his training if showing is desired. We also used him at kids camp as a showmanship horse and an intermediate riding horse for some lessons. He does not have any bad habits or vices, but as a young horse, he needs to know that you are the one in charge. He is OK with clipping, cross-ties, bathing, trailering and for the farrier. He gets along great with other horses, but tends to be the one who the mares pick on since he is a pretty social guy! He has never bucked, reared or bolted under saddle. We have not had him out on trails, but he loves to ride in the pastures and check the fence lines. Rocket is a grandson of Zips Chocolate Chip, the legendary AQHA Hall of Fame stallion. His offspring have amassed over 44,000 points and 20 AQHA world championships. There is even a Breyer horse modeled after him! Rocket's great grandsire, Sky's Blue Boy, has sired 260 World and Reserve World champions and was a two-time AQHA Congress Hunter Under Saddle champion. He was one of the top leading AQHA sires of open English Class winners. Rocket would be an amazing high school equestrian or pony club mount as he loves kids and they adore his fun-loving personality. He can go in many directions for the all-around or excel at the Ranch classes. He is beautiful to watch running free in the pasture as he is a very athletic guy who, in true Quarter Horse tradition, could do just about anything!
