Shorty is a 16-year-old, 14.1 hand quarter horse gelding. Chestnut with big blaze, no white on legs. I bought him in 2019 for my daughter and unfortunately, she has never connected with him. I have watched her confidence blossom with other horses, and she just shuts down with her own. Unfortunately for me, my loss is your gain. Shorty has been ridden English with my daughter, he does have a small neck rein, and he walk/trots/ canters with my daughter who is just learning this year to canter. Picks up his leads and goes into his canter smoothly. Backs easily. Currently working on side pass on ground and under saddle. He has been trailered to the lesson barn frequently for my daughter's lessons and is very comfortable there. When he is in a place of comfort he goes along like an old school pony. When exposed to a new place he does become worried and that is where my daughter falls apart with him. She becomes upset and they feed off of each other. I believe he could be an asset to a kids lesson program or if he is going into a show home to have an intermediate rider, or confident youth that can ignore his worries. He has been to a centered riding clinic and to a Bethany White obstacle clinic. He seems to enjoy the obstacles and tries very hard with them. He was brought to his first show this past month. My daughter showed him in hand and ended up winning the in hand open trail class. Her instructor rode him in the green horse equitation class and also ended up winning that. I have the full video for anyone to watch. When I first bought him, I rode him on some trails with another horse tagging along and he did great, he just has not been on trails in the past couple of years. He lunges on command and is very responsive on the ground. He tolerates baths well and sheath cleaning. Is weary of clippers but did allow me to clip his bridle path, underjaw, and around eyes, did not like the clipper on his muzzle but also has not had a lot of exposure to them. He is sensitive around his ears but has made a huge improvement in the years I have had him. He loads on a ramp or step up trailer. He has been exposed to cattle, goats, dogs, chickens and lots of kids. He is great with the farrier, wears front shoes in the summer, mostly because of fly stomping on hard ground. He is used to hot shoeing. Tolerates the vet and the chiropractor to do what they need to do. He has taken my daughter from her first pony rides to her first canter strides and I wish I was not writing this ad, but my daughter just has not connected with him. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, I want him to find the best home possible. His price also includes his blankets and sheets.
