Gertrude is a 2.8-year-old filly from the Warm Springs HMA, currently standing at 13.2hh and expected to mature around 14–14.1hh. She’s curious, athletic, and sharp as a tack—built for someone who values a thinking horse with grit and heart. She was gathered at 2 years old and has been handled consistently since. Gertrude is halter broke, leads, ties (with support), loads, and is comfortable with groundwork and body handling once you earn her trust. She is up to date on vaccines, trims, and deworming, and has been raised in a healthy, consistent environment. She’s currently on Regumate, and I’m happy to discuss my reasons for that with any interested parties. Gertrude is not a beginner’s project. She’s bold, independent, and full of personality—qualities I admire, but ones that require a confident, patient, and experienced handler. She’s still working through some stranger danger and can be spooky in unfamiliar settings. She has a history of pulling back under stress, though this has improved with regular exposure and trust-building. Once she warms up, she is deeply curious, engaged, and affectionate. It took about three months for her to come to me for love—and now she does. Selling her is not a decision I take lightly. I believe in her potential wholeheartedly, and in the right hands, she could absolutely excel in endurance, trail, or any discipline that values resilience, intelligence, and partnership. I adore this mare. Our journey together is proof that she’s ready for her person. But I’m currently focusing on another young mare whose training journey began before Gertrude arrived, and I’ve come to recognize that Gertrude deserves the same level of time and devotion. If you think you might be her person, let’s talk. I won’t rush the process—her next home must be the right one. Located in Truckee, CA. Price is negotiable to the right home. Serious inquiries only.
