"Merlin" has been with us since the day he was born. We owned his sire and his dam. He's been handled since day one. Was professionally started by JR Robles and then continued his training with us. He has been hauled all over. He's been on miles and miles of trails from easy to complicated. Over bridges, rough terrain, through water, etc. He's been horse camping several years in a row. Has competed in trail obstacle shows, and has been through the Mountain Trail Course in Eugene several times. He is currently being patterned on a bunch of different gaming/gymkhana events, including barrel racing, and is really enjoying doing them. We are currently at the stage of adding speed. He has been over 2ft jumps with ease, and has a beautiful style there also. He's a gorgeous mover, and would excel in the show ring as well. He is very willing and wants to have a job. He doesn't like to sit and be bored. Gets along with other horses and mules. He has never bucked under saddle, even when being started. He loads right up in a trailer. Stands tied quietly all day. He can be "looky" about new things, but once you show him a few times, his confidence builds. He does have some quirks, and does need an experienced rider, preferably someone who understands mules. He can be difficult while trimming his feet, it just takes someone slow and patient. He can also be difficult to saddle. But if you can deal with those two quirks, you will have an amazing partner.
