Sam is a 2020 AQHA-registered palomino gelding standing a sharp 14.3 hands tall. He is an own son of SANNMAN, the standout son of Metallic Cat, with over $200,000 in NCHA earnings and a reputation for siring cow-smart, stylish, and trainable offspring. SANNMANS’s foals have earned over $3.5 million, making waves in cutting, cow horse, and ranch versatility arenas. Sam’s dam, LIDOS LITTLE FRECKLE, is by LITTLE LIDO, an NCHA earner of $48,000 and a finalist at multiple major events. This is a pedigree full of real-world performers, and Sam is no exception—he’s bred to work, and it shows. Sam is exceptionally broke with a solid foundation in the cutting pen and show experience in ranch versatility events. He’s been shown in ranch riding, trail, cow horse, and conformation classes, and he has all the right pieces. He’s extremely cowy and rides with feel and precision. In the arena, he’s smooth and correct, with nice lope departures, balanced spins, and a deep stop. He’s soft in the bridle, rides off your seat and legs, and carries himself with natural self-carriage. He’ll lope around on a draped rein and stays consistent and gentle every ride. We’ve also started Sam in the roping pen, and he’s showing strong potential there as well. He handles new environments with ease, and stays level-headed in all situations. On the trail, Sam is a steady and trustworthy partner—confident through varied terrain and sure-footed outside. He’s been exposed to dogs, pigs, tarps, balls, and general ranch commotion, and nothing phases him. He saddles up the same every day and is always ready to go to work. On the ground, Sam is easy to catch, stands quietly for the farrier and vet, loads and unloads with no trouble, and bathes like a gentleman. His kind, willing personality makes him a favorite to have around the barn. With his pedigree, training, color, and solid mind, Sam is the kind of gelding that’s hard to find.
