At 6 years old and a solid 14.3 hands, he’s the perfect size: big enough to get the job done, small enough that he never leaves you feeling over-horsed. In the arena he’s broke, soft, and just plain fun to ride. He neck reins like a pro, picks up both leads, lopes smooth collected circles, backs up sweetly, and turns around on a dime. Ask him to stop and he’ll gladly plant that butt in the dirt with a nice slide. Responsive and athletic without being hot or complicated — the kind you can enjoy even if your riding days are more “weekend warrior” than “rodeo pro.” He’s also showing real talent on the heel side. Alamo likes cattle, tracks a lead steer nicely, and has that natural stop and athleticism that makes you think “yeah, this guy could be something special” with a little more time in the roping pen or in the sorting. Out on the trail or around the ranch he’s just as willing. He’ll go alone or with buddies, crosses water, climbs hills, picks through rocks and brush, steps over logs, and handles the kind of uneven country we have here in California without drama.
