Monroe is a breathtaking 4-year-old dappled gray Friesian cross gelding standing a solid 16.2 hands tall. With his striking looks, athletic build, and kind nature, Monroe is as versatile as he is beautiful. He has been a part of our program for the last two years, and in that time, he has grown into a confident, willing, and dependable partner. Monroe has been used to check cows and horses on the farm and is no stranger to real work. He is comfortable navigating wooded trails, open fields, and even busy state roads with traffic. Water crossings, tarps, wildlife—you name it—he takes it all in stride without a fuss. He has been ridden Western, English, and bareback, and he easily adjusts no matter the tack or rider. His three gaits are a dream: a steady, ground-covering walk, a floaty and forward trot, and a lovely uphill canter that feels like gliding. Out on the trail, Monroe is surefooted, calm, and easy to guide—whether he is leading or following. With his natural movement, rhythm, and eagerness to work, we believe Monroe would excel in the English world—especially as a lower-level dressage, hunter, or eventing prospect. He has shown interest and enthusiasm over small jumps and seems to truly enjoy the challenge. He currently wears shoes on all four feet due to the rocky terrain where we ride, but he has been barefoot in the past and transitions well if your ground allows it. Around the barn, Monroe is easy to handle, respectful on the ground, and gets along with other horses. He ties, loads, bathes, and stands for the farrier without issue. If you are looking for a horse with presence, personality, and potential—one that can hit the trails today and the arena tomorrow—Monroe is the complete package and ready to make someone very proud.
