Jaxson | “One Step Away” 2015 OTTB • 16.2hh • Gelding His Story Jaxson came into my program in October 2023 after I selected him off the track through Mountain States Retired Racehorse Rehoming. I chose him because he had the combination you rarely see all at once: athletic ability, a kind brain, and a naturally balanced, competitive way of going. His first year here, he lived the very typical “trainer horse” lifestyle—light work and slow development while other horses took priority. In 2025, with consistency and focus, he stepped fully into his job and showed exactly why he stood out to me. He has gone Starter level confidently, been ridden and leased by juniors, and completed two USEA recognized horse trials with solid finishes of 7th and 8th Temperament & Handling Jaxson is the horse everyone wants in their barn. He is incredibly easy to live with—sweet, respectful, unbothered, and the same whether he’s in a group lesson at home or standing at the trailer at a show. He lives anywhere on the property, is easy in turnout, and has zero quirks in basic handling. He clips, loads, stands beautifully for vet and farrier work, bathes quietly, and doesn’t require special management. He’s an easy keeper, loves attention, and genuinely enjoys people. Build & Care Standing 16.2hh, he is thick, substantial, and more of a Quarter Horse-type build than a typical refined Thoroughbred. He maintains condition easily on free-choice hay, a small grain ration, some alfalfa, and routine shoeing. He has been sound and straightforward for the duration of his time in my program. I am happy to share full vet and care records with serious buyers. Training & Rideability Under saddle, Jaxson is honest, reliable, and straightforward. He is not spooky, not reactive, and not a horse who looks for ways to avoid the work. He has always been brave to the fences and will jump from a variety of distances without drama. Early in training, he carried tension in his movement, but correct riding and a focus on stretching and body relaxation have made him supple, comfortable, and adjustable. He has participated in group lessons, clinics with Hawley Bennett, Kyle Carter, and Sharon White, multiple schooling shows, extensive trail mileage, and two USEA events. He has quickly become a barn favorite—the kind of horse people ask about when they pull into the driveway. Ideal Match Jaxson will thrive with a soft, tactful intermediate rider who appreciates a kind, willing partner and enjoys a horse who wants to do the job. He’s ready to continue his eventing journey or be someone's safe, athletic, and fun all-arounder with competitive potential. Why He’s Still Here If he had a warmblood name and a brand on his hip, he would've sold months ago. The truth: there is nothing better than a good Thoroughbred—and Jaxson is the best example of why.
