Introducing “Tall Boi,” a 16.3 hh, 7yo bay TB gelding, - same owner since he was 3. The good news is, owner is recovering from cancer. The bad news is due to its aftermath and side effects, she needs a step down horse. Something lower to the ground perhaps…Her loss is your gain tho - “Tall Boi” is looking for a new address! For the last 4 years he has been in training for dressage and groundwork. For the last 2 years he has been working with USDF Gold Medalist Emma Dye on walk - trot - lateral work, ground work, poles and longeing. He also has done some canter work but nothing consistent. He is a kind horse that tries to figure out what you want, well liked by the humans in the barn, and is low man n the totem pole with the other horse. He has some good basics- but also some bad habits that will need work. Nothing major - a bit pushy on the ground, likes to snatch his feet away when you’re working on them, and wiggly on the cross ties. Occasionally decides he’d like to walk ahead of you when leading but isn’t too hard to back off. Will sometimes act a fool when longeing, most often when first coming back into work. He also did have one episode of bucking under saddle last spring but it only ever happened once - the rider stayed on. rnrnSo although he tries to be good , he does require an experienced handler/rider. Tall Boi ‘s progress has been somewhat limited by his flat feet, transition to barefoot (trying to remodel said feet) and inability to hold a shoe. Feet have improved in ScootBoots so he’s sound and moves well when wearing them but probably will always need some type of boot or foot protection to stay comfortable. He also has a crooked front foot which limits him to flat work only. Per the vet he could pop over a small log or fence if needed but in general he should probably avoid that unless you really need to get to the other side of something. He requires light maintenance (had his first round of hock injections a couple of months ago due to some very minor joint changes that were just starting to show up on xray. This is Another reason he is limited to the flat. He is selling as a dressage / trail / project horse or as a pasture pet. We think he would be happier with at least a part time job; he likes human interaction and needs something to occupy his brain. Comes with boots, blankets and assorted tack. Price negotiable to the right situation with references.
