Madame Jeanette is a 9 year old OTTB mare whose last race was in August of 2022. We’ve had her since shortly after her last start, and gave her a winter off to mentally reset. Since then she’s been lightly used on our ranch, and is the mare we tend to put inexperienced friends, children who need some confidence, and older adults on. We haven’t asked her for much beyond a walk/trot and to occasionally pack large men up hills, but she’s stayed sound and has been low maintenance for the three years we’ve had her. She’s been barefoot all 3 years, hasn’t had any issues even with the terrain and acreage that she’s been turned out on. She’s very gentle, stands tied quietly, stands to be tacked and mounted, stands tied for the farrier, lets small children brush her and bother her, and is kind enough to even pick up her back feet for you before you ask for them. She’s been living turned out in pastures ranging from 5-200 acres, but we have occasionally stalled her during the winter without issue. She’s been living with 3 other mares, she doesn’t pick on the lowest pecking order mare and she holds her own against the boss mare. This is a gentle, easy going mare looking for a home where she’ll be used more often. Vaccinated in March 2025, teeth done in September 2025. Video: https://youtu.be/6_TgV5J3SuE
