Dakota, known as Kody, is a 10 year old gaited draft cross with a personality bigger than his will to exercise! He is a ✨SLOW✨ and ✨SAFE✨ trail horse! 🐴🌟

He will walk, gait and trot, as well as canter when pushed - much more whoa than go (seriously look at his video, we call his walk a mosey for a reason)! He goes both English and Western, though truly excels in the western world: he has easy leg and seat cues along with a decent neck rein on a good day. He has been ridden both bitted and bitless. He appreciates a loose rein and a chill ride, happy to cross obstacles and pop over the occasional jump on trails. He has been ridden out on trails, roads, indoor/outdoor rings and even large arenas!

Dakota would be best suited in a laid back home (did we mention he’s slow?) - He would excel as a husband horse, a kid’s trail partner or just as a best friend! He will not be your prize hunter jumper horse, as that is just not his speed (indoor arenas just aren’t his jam, and if we haven’t said it enough already, he is SLOW). He is happiest walking along trails with some buddies, though he has hacked out by himself. He has barely batted an eye at everything we’ve thrown at him, and he’s realized it's more effort to spook at something than to just look at it and move on.

Dakota has become a solid citizen, and can be led around with a loose cotton rope. He stands well for spraying, bathing, blanketing, farrier, vet, grooming, and tacking up! On the ground he is a very “in your pocket” puppy dog type horse, who really aims to please. He has shown promise as a liberty prospect – training includes follow, spin on front, smile, and currently working on bow and lay down!

Dakota has a clean bill of health with recent x-rays of hocks and stifles, recent foot trim, dental, and up to date vaccinations. He does have some small cosmetic bumps, however all are confirmed to be benign. He had a recent chiro done due to some neck stiffness and responded very well to it, and would be at his best if this continued. PPE’s are encouraged at buyer’s expense. Vet records are available to serious inquiries!

Price is mid 4's - negotiable to make sure he goes to the perfect home! Located in Lisbon, CT. He is a real hard one to let go, and his training will continue as long as he is here. You are more than welcome to come see him, trial ride him, etc. to make sure he is the right fit for you, as we want you to be his forever home! 💜🐎
