Archie is ready to find a new address! Archie seems to be a Rocky Mountain/Quarter Horse Cross. He will stay in somewhat of a running walk when asked. He does pick up a smoother trot and a lope as well. Someone who has more experience with gaiting than us could probably fine tune that up. Or leave him as he is! He has a little spunk but a good head and temperament. Archie is great for the farrier for trims. He has not been shod here. Archie was great for the vet and is up-to-date on dental, dewormer, and vaccines. I can get a coggins pulled if needed. Loads into the trailer fine and backs out nicely. He ties, saddles, and bridles well. We have rode him in a hackamore and a bit. Stands for mounting/unmounting. Archie rides around in the arena fine but prefers to ride outside. He enjoys being trail "boss" and will lead all day. He is a little more forward but he's not a run away. Just likes to walk out. In big groups, he needs more work on being in the back and being patient. Smaller groups, he's fine. He'll also ride off by himself. We took him camping in October. He stood great at the hitching rail all night. He isn't generally spooky. Crossed all the bridges and water without hesitation for me. Walked right past dogs and hikers quietly. Archie does have seasonal respiratory allergies. During harvest, the bean & corn dust really flared him up. I put him in a stall for a few days on soaked feed with some Benadryl and it cleared right up. He is currently outside on grass/alfalfa round bales with no problems. Just will be something to plan for if he stays in the Midwest. https://youtu.be/6lycVPC6PSk?si=W7uYE486DpBuo11E
