4-Year-Old Registered Shetland Pony Gelding Standing at 11.2 hands, this handsome gelding has already proven himself as a successful halter champion and has also been shown in-hand over jumps. He was started under saddle in July 2024 and was ridden consistently through this past spring with a 4-5 month break. He has been back riding again by my daughter for the last 3 months. Casper is still very green so will need a strong young rider to get him going. Our daughter is on the tall end for him and is moving up. This pony would make a stunning and competitive driving prospect. Pros: He is extremely friendly, very “in-your-pocket,” and has a big, goofy personality. He has been ridden western in his past, English with my daughter, rides nicely bareback, and was even used by kids in California who were throwing ropes off of him. We have found he overall transitions well (can be stubborn), stops hard when asked, we have been working on small jumps again with him, but when he jumps he loves it. We haven’t personally taken him on trail rides, but in the past he enjoyed trail riding in a group (not yet tried solo though), pushes cows, and is up for all the fun activities. It seems like jumping is his favorite! He stands well for grooming and I think secretly loves a nice grooming session Tacks up nicely and willingly He’s sweet and loves kids Not spooky, but can have his little moments Listens really well overall Leads nicely No buck, no bite, no taking off Cons: Hauling.. He trailers well with a buddy and does fine in a shared trailer. When hauled alone, he may stomp a bit and would benefit from more solo hauling experience. His transitional period when going to a new place can been a lot on him. He paces and needs time to adjust. So patience is needed with him in the beginning. He loves a buddy so being with other horses would be a plus. He is young, green and can be stubborn so he needs a firm rider. He is not a super beginner pony for the littles to just ride without supervision, but I know as he matures and learns more he will be a wonderful little kids pony. He has been in training and doing well, but I feel that continued path would really help build his confidence. He needs to work! Send him to your trainer and finish him out! He has also been stepped off of previously and could probably excel as a goat tying pony for kids just getting started. Overall Temperament & Experience: Not considered super beginner broke under saddle just yet. Excellent on a lead line for riders of all levels. He’s Confident, willing, and trainable in the right hands. If your child rides, his bridle goes with him. He has an English and a western bridle. No saddle available. You’re welcome to try him bareback or use my daughter’s English saddle or bring your own pony saddle. He is located off Eastern and Warmsprings area in Las Vegas.
